Erica Amachigh

As a dedicated educator with a passion for enhancing literacy skills, I have been serving as an educator for Irving Independent School District in Irving, TX since 2013. I took on the District Dyslexia Specialist role in 2018 and have been able to contribute to the continuous improvement of the district's dyslexia program.

My responsibilities encompass coaching and mentoring dyslexia interventionists and specialists and supporting the implementation of effective instructional programs. Committed to the principles of structured literacy, I extend my impact by providing high-quality literacy instruction to students at Irving High School using the MTA curriculum, while also working with private clients in one on one therapy sessions either in-person, or virtually, before and after school. In addition to my professional roles, I have acquired extensive education and training to bolster my expertise. I’ve been a member of the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) since November 2020 where I was able to obtain my CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist) License. I’ve completed the Shelton Academic Language Approach in order to obtain my certifications to work with students with dyslexia at the therapy level.

I received my undergraduate degree in English from Southern Methodist University in 2009 and my masters from Dallas Baptist University in 2020, where I received my degree in Education with a specialization in Multisensory Teaching.I’ve been married to my husband Amen for 12 years and we have 3 wonderful children. 2 of my children have dyslexia which has only helped fuel my passion to support students and their families as they navigate learning to read, spell and write successfully.  My goal is to show every student just how brilliant they are and help build their confidence as they grow and encounter print-rich environments.

My journey in education is marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a genuine dedication to improving student outcomes in the realm of dyslexia education. I’m so excited for the opportunity to continue these efforts working with Moving Mountains Reading and Dyslexia Services LLC!
