Laurie Harvick

Hello! My name is Laurie Harvick, and I am so excited to be part of the Moving Mountains Team. I recently retired from public school teaching in Texas after 36 years, where I have taught first
grade, second grade, fourth grade, and served as a reading interventionist at the elementary level. In addition, in 2010 I completed my dyslexia therapy training at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital’s Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia & Learning Disorders. I am a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist in Texas, a certified member of the Academic Language Therapy Association, and have been trained in both Take Flight and MTA curriculums.

Teaching reading is truly my passion. I love to read, and want my students to be able to access the world books can open up to us...the smile on a student’s face when they realize they can read is priceless!

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Kevin, for 34 years, and have four fantastic kids...a son and daughter-in-law, and a daughter and son-in-law. We also have four dogs who keep us on our toes! In my free time, I love spending time with my family and traveling.
